Laganas:  Located nine kilometres southwest of Zakynthos Town, Laganas is highly developed and offers a large variety of accommodation, restaurants, tavernas, bars and nightclubs.  Laganas is very fashionable with the young for its non-stop nightlife where they can party until dawn and then sleep the day away on the long sandy beach.  Laganas attracts thousands of tourists every summer and is not the place for you if you prefer a quiet relaxed holiday. 

The resort offers a wide range of shops selling tourist goods, jewellery, ceramics, clothes and leather goods.  The restaurants in Laganas offer all types of international cuisine and of course a wide range of Greek tavernas. 

As the largest tourist centre for the island there are many excursions available to see the rest of Zakynthos.  Laganas does not offer water sports as part of the protection of the Caretta Caretta turtles, but it is possible to takes trips to other beaches where water sports are available.  During the summer visitors can also take trips by boat to see the turtles as they head for the shore to lay their eggs, and in May-June, often the turtles can be seen swimming in the bay.
